2012 CH Haut Conseillants Lalande De Pomerol
70% merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon
The signature grape variety is Merlot, bringing body and higher alcohol and red fruit characters. The blend with Cabernet Franc brings freshness and herbaceous notes of redcurrant leaf to the wine. These are wines made for long ageing, robust yet silky and they tend to develop notes of cedar and tobacco as they age.
Tasting notes: Ripe red fruits, fresh and silky with a deep, mineral finish.
Food: Great with a rack of lamb and venison
From the menu: Pyrenees leg of lamb for two, served with wild mushrooms and pommes dauphinoise
